Why Toledo?
The 2012 GAS conference will take place in Toledo, Ohio, America's "Glass City." What better place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the American Studio Glass Movement than in Toledo, its birthplace? In 1962, two experimental glass workshops held at the Toledo Museum of Art proved that glass was a medium suitable for the expression of artistic ideas in a studio environment. They launched a movement that was propelled by an unprecedented collective enthusiasm, so much so that it has since has turned into an international phenomenon that continues to inspire experimentation.
