Students and Continuing Education

The Glass Art Society offers many benefits specifically to full-time student members and encourages and supports students of all ages and levels.

Student Membership

GAS offers discounted membership for full-time students ($40 USD) enrolled in accredited programs along with providing special opportunities just for student members. Proof of full-time student status is required when joining.

Classes & Workshops

View a list of schools offering classes, workshops and/or degree programs. Schools are organized alphabetically by country and state for the US. Download various lists and start researching the right program or class for you in your area.

Student Scholarships

Student Scholarships are available to assist full-time student members of GAS (must meet eligibility requirements) in attending the Annual Glass Art Society Conference which is held in a new location every year.  Learn more about how to apply for a student scholarship. Deadline for applications for assistance in attending the 2016 GAS conference in Corning, NY is February 15, 2016.

Student Group Demonstrations at Annual Conference

On occasion, the Glass Art Society has the ability to offer demonstration slots to groups of students at the annual conference.  An application must be submitted and they are juried by the Education committee of the GAS Board of Directors. Not available every year. Not available for 2016.

Student Representative to the GAS Board of Directors

The Student Representative to the Glass Art Society Board is a vital position and we encourage all student members to apply by self-nomination supported by two references. The Student Representative serves as the primary intermediary between student members of the Glass Art Society and general membership (as represented by the current GAS Board). An excellent professional development opportunity, this position plays an important role in communicating the benefits of GAS membership to students interested in art made with glass. Next deadline to apply is November 1, 2015.

Become a GAS Student Liaison

The Glass Art Society recognizes one Student Liaison per accredited school annually to represent the students and professors for that school. Learn more and sign up to become a liaison.

Student Exhibitions

GAS provides two special opportunities for current student members to have their work featured in exhibitions.
International Online Student Exhibition: The Glass Art Society hosts an International Student Online Exhibition each year, which includes an online gallery of eligible submitted works and a Juried Selection Catalogue published on We are currently accepting submissions for the 2015 International Student Exhibition (deadline November 15) and you can explore the 2014 International Student Online Exhibition here
International Student Exhibition at the GAS Conference: Student members of GAS can display their artwork on site at the annual GAS conference. Eligible students must be members of GAS and currently enrolled full-time in an accredited, degree-seeking program. More information about the 2016 International Student Exhibition in Corning, NY will be available soon, and in the meantime you can learn more about the International Student Exhibition hosted at the 2015 GAS conference in San Jose, CA.

The Thesis Shelf

GAS members are graduating from MFA and PhD programs all year long. In an effort to help disseminate the knowledge these students have gathered in their theses, GAS began making select academic papers available to GAS members online. View the Thesis Shelf
