General Conference Proposal Submission Process

GUIDELINES
Lecturers and Demonstrators
from the past 3 years GAS conferences are NOT eligible to present
at the upcoming conference (panelists are excluded from this 3 year rule).
Each presentation must be
submitted in ONE category which are as follows:
Lecture - (1hr slot in afternoon, $400
honorarium per slot in general)One person talk with visuals (slides or power point) about
but not limited to: art and career, technical, health and safety, professional practices (marketing,
legal), etc.
Demonstration -(1.5hr slot in morning, $250
honorarium per slot in general)One person presentation demonstrating a particular
skill or process or style. Such as but not limited to: hot glass,
flameworking, kilnforming or any technique that can be easily
demonstrated in the 1.5 hour time slot, start to finish. Any special
needs must be discussed and approved prior to acceptance and demo.
Lec-Mo - (1.5hr slot in morning, $250
honorarium per slot in general)One personpresentation about an artists process, more like a cooking
show where presenter speaks about, shows images of process, shows pieces
in process, but may not actually demo process live - usually for
processes that are very slow such as but not limited to: kilnforming,
coldworking, etc. Any special needs must be discussed and approved prior
to acceptance and demo.
Panel - (1.5hr slot in afternoon,
$250 honorarium for moderator, $200 each panelist)One moderator and up to 4
other panelists for a maximum total of 5 people discussing a topic,
visuals optional.
Topic suggestion - Suggestions
for topics you would like to see addressed.
If you have more than one
proposal you will need to make separate submissions for each.
All submissions meeting these
requirements will be reviewed by the GAS Board of Directors and conference
co-chairs.
Submission materials sent by
mail will not be returned.
Notifications will be sent
anytime between January through June.
Travel to and accommodations during the conference are the responsibility of the presenter.
If accepted, a presenter will
be contacted by a GAS Board member or conference co-chair and will
be required to sign a contract and submit information for promotional
materials by a certain date.

ii. Resume
and credentials for topic proposed (MAXIMUM 3 pages)
iii. For
Panel proposals - Names and Resumes (MAX 3 pages each) for each panelist
besides yourself

If you have never been a GAS member you will need to
register
Choose what call & category to submit to and click on the link
Review the information needed for a submission and scroll down to NEW SUBMISSION link
Title your submission (example: "Joe Smith 2011 Lecture proposal")
Submit one file at a time by using the BROWSE button, choosing your file, clicking SUBMIT
Continue to add new files and MODIFY if needed
After you have uploaded all of your files click the FINISH link to submit your proposal
Once submitted the proposal will need to be reviewed and approved by GAS staff
to ensure all files are visible which then allows the jurors to review the submission.
Logout or return to the main Call for Submissions page to submit another proposal
ON DISC
BY MAIL
Put all relevant documents and
images for each presentation on one cd labeled with your name.
