My ongoing work with laminated optical glass is as much about solving a puzzle as it is about the finished form. When starting a new piece, I often begin by playing with laminated color blocks. I build each piece slowly often changing the color, location or direction of the lamination and the shape of the piece. It's a complicated process but, walking around one of my evolving sculptures, I am energized by the way the tones move, forming colors that blend, disappear and reappear. It is this precise manipulation of color and form -- one influencing the other - that takes me to the coffee pot and then the studio first thing in the morning.
You could say I am a minimalist at heart, striving for simplicity while exploring the effects of movement and form on light and color.
