Cathy Brillson Leonard

In the 1980s, Catherine co-founded a foundation focused on bringing attention to glass as a contemporary sculptural medium. She was a founding advisor of The New Art Forms Exhibition, which eventually morphed into SOFA (Sculpture, Objects and Functional Art), and founded the SOFA Lecture Series, which she then ran for 15 years, until 2001. Catherine served on an early Pilchuck Collectors Committee and, for three years, granted a named scholarship to that iconic glass school. Twice in the 1980s, she was a presenter at the annual Glass Arts Society Conference, and for three years served as a founding member of the Coalition of Creative Organizations, a national organization comprised of the leaders of America's media-defined artists groups. In San Antonio, Catherine has worked with the Southwest School of Art since 2004 as its Director of Marketing and Public Relations. In this role, she’s been responsible for helping to move the school’s profile from that of a local arts center to a widely-respected community art school and exhibiting institution.
