Percy Echols II was born in Champain, IL in 1989 and raised in Bloomington/Normal, IL. Like most kids, his interest in art had started in drawing. From Elementry to High School, he carried a pencil and paper with him everywhere he went (and still does to this very moment). In High School he turned his interest to Graphic Design.
After graduating and transferring from Heartland Community College to Illinois State University, he dove into Art and Graphic Design. It was during his first year perusing Graphic Design, that he learned of glass and he was hooked. It was the mystery, and the movement required to shape and control the the glass, and discipline and attention that reminded him of his of time and interest in the martial art that drew him in. When Graphic Design fell through, he decided to give glass his full attention, though elements of his short time in graphic design will resurface, and continue to be pursued on the side.
Now a Senior at Illinois State University as a candidate for BFA program in Studio Glass. With a year and half of Glass experience under MFA student and Glass Artist/Sculptor Slate Grove, and Glass Department Instructor and international artist John Miller.
