Carol Lewando


Carol is an Alaskan born Visual Artist and an Elementary Art Teacher in Anchorage Alaska. Her fuse glass art focuses on creating animal masks, landscapes and small scale pieces. In 2008 she received an Art Educators Award through the Alaska State Council on the Arts in partnership with Rasmusen Foundation and Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation which enabled her to attended classes at Bullseye and the GAS conference in Portland. She supports "The Arts" as an art teacher and as an advocate of student's in the schools by receiving two grants for art supplies through Alaska Teachers Foundation. In 2010, three of her fuse glass animal masks: a wolf, an owl and a bear were in the 28th biennial statewide exhibition called, "Earth, Fire and Fibre". During the summer of 2013, Carol went to Pilchuck to expand on her glass experience and education. She has fuse glass in several local art galleries and has participated in art shows and markets. Her husband, Tom is also a fuse glass artist and an ice carver. They are a "team" and collaborate on lots of glass projects and ice sculptures. Together, they strive to learn more about glass as an art form and to network with other glass artists.
