Heather Joy Puskarich has an MFA in Sculpture, Dimensional Studies and Glass from Alfred University and a BA in Film Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. Heather has been in New Glass Review, 33, was featured as one of the 20 Women of Power in Pittsburgh’s Maniac Magazine, and has received awards in photography and sculpture at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, Wichita State University, and Alfred University. She has been included in several juried shows including the Kinsey Institute Annual show, and Glasmuseet Ebeltoft in Denmark.
Her artistic practice involves material research combined with academic and philosophical inquiry. She seeks substances within her natural surroundings and explores ways to use and reuse materials. She is investigating ways of using chemical elements as art forms and the development of hybrid substances with glass. She is sensitive to how her environment affects her physically and psychologically and incorporates this into her practice. By using her own body she investigates concepts of desire and beauty and her own relationship to the self and identity.
