I am originally from Elgin, Illinois. I went to Illinois State University, in Bloomington-Normal, where I studied art. I had started out as a drawing major, but had always been well rounded in other mediums. Once I had taken a glass class, I knew that this was the way I could communicate through my art. I continued taking glass classes under the direction of John Miller, where I learned a vast amount of techniques. Glass became such a versatile material for me to express myself, paper could never match up. Although, drawing has stuck with me and I continue to find ways to include it in my sculptures.
I have developed my works further by taking intensive classes at craft schools such as: Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood,WA., Penland School of Craft in Penland,NC., Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy, and at Scuola Abate Zanetti in Murano, Italy.
