James, AKA Jay/J.J., attended Tyler School of Art for his BFA of Glass, and SIU Carbondale's glass program for graduate school. A primary focus of James’ career in glass has been building, structuring, and teaching at public and university glass studios. In 2006 JJ helped a small bronze foundry in Chicago up-scale their casting equipment for larger production of bronze furnishings. Afterward, he began to work in a new direction offering cast/fused/blown and cold-worked glass to the design market. A small business he began in Stowe, VT has now turned into a much larger glassworks operation for West Supply in Chicago. “I’m focusing on opening a new niche for glass. At West Supply, we’re offering glass to a broader audience through interiors designers, while also creating jobs for glass makers”. The glassworks at WS is honored to host live artists’ demonstrations for the 2014 GAS Conference.
