James Riviello

Birdsboro, PA, USA

James, AKA Jay/J.J., attended Tyler School of Art for his BFA of Glass, and SIU Carbondale's glass program for graduate school. A primary focus of James’ career in glass has been building, structuring, and teaching at public and university glass studios. In 2006 Jay helped a small bronze foundry in Chicago up-scale their casting equipment for larger production of bronze furnishings. Afterward, he began to work in a new direction offering cast/fused/blown and cold-worked glass to the design market. A small business he began in Stowe, VT has now turned into a much larger glassworks operation at West Supply in Chicago from 2011-2014. “I’m focusing on opening a new niche for glass, while working at offering glass to a broader audience of people through interiors designers and architects. I also plan to create jobs for glass makers”. Last Year, Jay had the honor of helping host live artists’ demonstrations for the 2014 GAS Conference at the Glassworks at WS. Today he continues to push the possibilities of large-scale, manufacturable, kiln-formed glass. Over the past year Jay has also developed kiln fusing/casting processes for Andrew Pearson Industries, NC, and John Pomp Studios in Philadelphia.
