Glass has always intrigued me. When I was in the fourth grade, I watched a documentary about working class people in various countries. There was a part that showed glass blowers in India making light bulbs. I had always known there were light bulbs, everyone knows about light bulbs. But I never thought about how they were made, or any other glass object for that matter. So when I saw this man sweating bullets pulling molten glass out of a furnace and blowing it out, the image was ingrained in my mind from then on. I continued life with this image in the back of my mind. I got into California College of the Arts with a Graphic Design portfolio, and saw that Glass Blowing was an elective that I could take. I have taken two semesters of glass blowing so far and I love it.
