Christopher Morrison

Bellingham , WA, USA

Christopher Morrison’s professional artistic journey began at Hartwick College (Oneonta, NY) where he studied glass making, receiving his Bachelor of Arts there in 1984. Subsequently he expanded his skills through ongoing studies at Pilchuck Glass School: where he studied with Bertil Vallien, Jon Eric Ritzman, Amy Roberts and Robert Carlson. Before setting up his own glass art studio, Christopher worked at major glass blowing facilities including the Tim Philabaum Glass Studios in Tucson, Arizona and Chihuly, Inc. in Seattle, Washington. Desiring to share his knowledge and experience, Christopher began instructing glass blowing at the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle in 1992. He then went on to pioneer the educational program at Seattle Glassblowing Studio. Launched in April, 1997 Christopher’s studio creates blown and sculpted glass art that has been exhibited in galleries, public and private collections around the world. His work includes mobiles, chandeliers, vases, platters, fountains, pitchers and standing sculptures. A staunch supporter of public art, Christopher serves on the Bellingham Arts Commission, the Whatcom Museum Foundation Board and Western Washington University’s College of Fine and Performing Arts Advisory Board. He is a 2004 recipient of the Mayor’s Arts Award and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, PA. Christopher lives in Bellingham with his wife Sonya, his two sons Brimmer and Keller, and their dog Izzy, and enjoys coaching his boys’ soccer teams, as well as hiking, biking and enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
