The main conference venues are located near the southern edge of Adelaide’s center – the hotels, convention center, and shopping and restaurant districts are all a short walk from each other. The longest walk between conference venues – Drill Hall (Auction) to Queen’s Theatre (Closing Party) takes only about 12 minutes.

JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design is a unique center for the design, production, exhibition, and sale of work by leading and emerging Australian designer/makers. In 2004
the JamFactory celebrated 30 years of successful operation. The four studios work in the areas of ceramics, furniture, metal, and glass, each combining a rigorous training program with commissions and high-quality production work. The gallery showcases contemporary Australian craft practice and has two award-winning retail spaces that offer a wide range of the very best for sale. The accomplishments of the JamFactory’s artists and designers have gained an international reputation for quality and creativity. The emphasis is on fostering the best in Australian craft and design.

University of South Australia, City West, is a modern, vibrant campus located amidst Adelaide’s educational and cultural precinct and adjacent to the JamFactory. With innovative learning facilities and a range of research activities across many disciplines, City West also enjoys a reputation of being part of a world-class arts precinct. Conference activities will be held in the South Australian School of Art’s new, purpose-built buildings, due to be opened in early 2005.

Grainger Studio was originally West’s Cinema, built in 1939. The cinema was described as “the best example of the art deco modern style in Australia.” The building has been returned to its former glory, retaining many of the original art deco features– in particular, the magnificent foyer and grand staircase that leads up to a mezzanine level complete with balcony. The cinema’s original auditorium has been converted to the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s main rehearsal area.
Mercury and Iris Cinemas are run by the Media Resource Centre to enhance screen culture and give screening opportunities to emerging South Australian film and digital media artists.

The Adelaide Convention Centre provides some of the largest multi-purpose built convention and banquet facilities available anywhere in the world. The facilities accommodate banquets for over 6,600 guests. The expansive atrium links the exhibition halls, conference and banquet areas. Guests are able to enjoy beautiful, uninterrupted garden and river views from the pre-function areas.
The Hub will be a tented area located in the center of conference activities–a place to sit, relax, have a drink, mingle with your friends and make some new ones – and will also be the location of some of the conference events.
