Tell us about yourself!
Glass is my second act... Having studied economics in the United States, I started off as a banker and later founded businesses in manufacturing till I realized the immense need to express my creativity through glass.

What draws you to the material you work with?
I have always been attracted to glass as it is so fragile yet so strong. However as a glassmaker, what draws me to work with glass is the challenge. As a person, I like challenges and glass provides me with exactly what I see to further develop myself as a human being.

What themes do you pursue in your work?
I am a close observant of nature and that reflects in my work but not in an apparent way. For example, I am currently working on a contemporary light fixture with very bold lines, however I have decided to call it IVY as that is what has given me the inspiration.

If you weren’t working in this field, what career would you choose?
I would have really enjoyed being in foreign service such as being an ambassador or working for the United Nations given my interest in politics, history, and languages.

What’s something about you that most people don’t know?
What people don’t know is that I started my career on glass right AFTER I completed a program at Harvard Business School. I would think it is very rare for a HBS graduate, with a finance background, to drop everything and to move into the artistic world of glass.

Why are you a member of GAS?
GAS has an amazing international network with vast resources. Glassmaking can be a very lonely process and it feels great to be virtually connected to a strong organization.
