Tell us about yourself!

My name is Jacob Boyt and I am a glassblower from Michigan. I did a lot of music before finding balance between collaboration and personal work lies in the hot shop.

What draws you to the material you work with, and why have you chosen the processes that you use in your work?

I am drawn to work with the vessel as a format of exploration. The functionality is imperative to my work, as I find it completes the synonymous implications of the vessel as a person and an object that carries an idea.

What themes do you pursue in your work?

I tend to focus on activating an idea into a habit. I think about personalities, interpersonal relationships, and self actualization and how they interact with our actions of the everyday.

What is your dream project?

My dream project is to make functional glass instruments.

What's something about you that most people don't know?

I taught myself how to throat sing in high school and love to hear people sing.
