It all started with a love of glass art. I was fortunate to be able to travel the world and those trips always included looking for that special piece to add to my glass collection. A California girl who loved the beach, I also had lots of places along the west coast to visit and see glassblowing demonstrations.
What a crazy turn of events, that moving to Oklahoma would be what led me to becoming a glass artist. The Oklahoma Museum of Art, with their amazing Chihully exhibit, became my favorite spot to take visiting friends. And lo and behold, they offered glass blowing classes through a local studio.
I signed on for a series of classes with Andrew Boatman at Blue Sage Studios and never looked back. This art form is not for the weak of heart, it's challenging, hot, heavy and often frustrating. I love every minute of it!
Another thing I fell in love with after my move to Oklahoma was the lovely town of Guthrie. On April 9, 2010 I opened G Gallery and Glass studio in the historic De Steiguer Building. It's a contemporary art gallery with an emphasis on, what else, glass art. Phase two, scheduled for Fall 2010, will be the opening of the glassblowing studio. I'm surrounded by art, get to help people who enjoy art, and soon will get to create beautiful glass art in my own studio. I'm truly blessed.
