Originally from Vancouver Island, Canada Jill Allan is currently sessional faculty in the glass department of the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD), Calgary. In 2013 she graduated with an MFA from Bowling Green State University. Her work is included in the collections of the Canadian Craft Museum, Vancouver, the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning N.Y., and Kirkwood Community College, Iowa. Jill has received several awards for her work and scholarship including the Dr. Alice E. Wilson Fellowship, the Katzner Fund Graduate Research Grant and the BC Creative Achievement Award in 2007. Her work is quiet, based in the craft tradition of vessel making, but not exclusively functional. She is influenced by Scandinavian designs, particularly those of Finland’s iittala.
