Alison Schaeffler-Murphy has been working in the medium of glass for over 30 years. Her love affair with glass began when she took a stained glass class as a creative outlet. In glass she recognized a clarity and brilliance of color that could not be found in any other artistic medium; she instantly became enamored and has been working in glass ever since.
Alison's early glass explorations focused on creating 'one-of-a-kind' stained and leaded glass windows for private homes. Then in 1992, after studying fused glass in several weekend glass workshops, she became interested in the warm-glass movement. She acquired a kiln and began incorporating warm glass into her leaded glass panels. Today, Alison still creates these stained glass windows but she has become equally captivated with the expressive possibilities of designing and created original fused dichroic glass jewlery, decorative artworks and a diversity of glass art innovations.
Because Alison so strongly believe in the importance of art in every person's life she defines her art glass by stating,
"This artwork is intended to inspire
the creative joy and happiness that the presence of art and beauty
continually offers to our lives."
