My glass sculptures seek to capture the ancestral and ephemeral poetry of Mediterranean cultures and landscapes".
Born and living on the Côte d'Azur, Antoine PIERINI draws from the mountainous and marine landscapes of the Mediterranean region an infinite source of inspiration. Traveling allows him to nourish his creative process and to enrich the palette of his interior landscapes (Italy, Greece, Sahara, Morocco, etc.).
Aware of the richness and fragility of the natural and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean, Antoine PIERINI seeks to move us and question us on these themes, which are the thread of the majority of his creations.
True sculptures, his works are freely inspired by the forms of nature (Bambous [link], Chrysalides [link], Dunes [link]), play alliances of the glass with raw natural materials (rock for On the rock [link], wood for Chrysalide [link]), or again, recall the shape of hand-crafted objects of men's hand (amphorae with Contemporary Remains [link] and bottles with Drunkenness [link]).
However, the creations of Antoine are not utilitarian: "I try to detach myself from the functional nature of the object to address a more sculptural universe in its form and more subjective in its resonance".
Combining traditional know-how with contemporary experimentations, Antoine PIERINI says he is an "artist of matter" and gives his creations a poetic and sensitive depth.
Designed as installations, they often work in modular sets, with various shapes and colors; a choice that allows him to describe his sculptures as "living".
