Katharine Coleman is an award-winning freelance glass engraver, training in 1984-7 with Peter Dreiser in London. Working on thick-walled overlaid crystal forms, blown to her design, her engravings reflect and refract into the inside of the glass, creating illusions of one body floating inside another. The optical properties of glass provide a rich world for the artist, seldom explored. Her inspiration ranges from natural history to the modern urban landscape. She exhibits widely internationally with work in many public collections. She feels strongly that wheel engraving on glass no longer needs to be traditional in style or content.
