Fahan Sky McDonagh was raised in Melbourne Beach, Fl. As a child, she spent most of her free time outside exploring the landscape. Her background of closely observing nature informs her sculpture and installation work. Recently, Fahan is using glass, found objects and 24kt gold leaf to open a visual dialogue about the preciousness of nature and our responsibility the environment. Central themes in her work are time, memory and the impermanence of life.
McDonagh received an MFA in Glass Sculpture from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York in 2013. She has attended residencies and symposiums at Corning Museum, North Lands Creative Glass in Scotland and Pilchuck Glass School in Washington State. "Satori," her thesis exhibition, was selected for publication in the Corning Museum of Glass' New Glass Review 35 as well as Art Glass Today 2. Her latest glass installation “Promise” has been juried into four exhibitions this year including Aqua Miami in December 2017. She currently teaches as a visiting artist and runs a studio practice in Orlando, Florida.
