My work is a play between my passion for kiln-formed glass and my love of photography. I create vibrant imagery in glass by layering my own digital images between layers of glass and kiln-fusing them to create a 3-dimensional piece that is a unique narrative of metaphor through imagery.
Nature has always inspired me and influenced my art. I find so many connections between our lives and that of the natural world around us. Those connections weave themselves into my pieces to tell a story. I live on the Pigeon River in West Michigan which provides me daily with natural beauty and photographic opportunities. Many of my photos that you see in my work are taken right in my own back yard.
I love experimenting with my work and growing as an artist. I travel to a variety of workshops, residencies and visit the studios of other glass artists I admire each year. Of course I always travel with my camera. I never know what the next great photo will inspire me to create!
