Greg Dietrich has been blowing and engraving glass since 1990. Destiny played a hand in this artist’s life by taking him to Cozumel, Mexico where he has been living for the past 20 years. He is known for his work using the technique called Cameo Engraving, a painstakingly slow art form that is seldom seen in today’s fast paced world. His work is inspired by the coral reefs that surround his island home, as well as the beautiful tropical flora and fauna that are abundant on the island. He himself blows the glass that he engraves, layering the vessels with colored glass that he then cuts away with diamond wheels to leave the desired imagery. His engraving studio is on the first floor of his home which is also a gallery open to the public in Cozumel, Mexico.
