Najah Alboushi is an artist and writer from Green Bay, Wisconsin. She received a BA in Journalism and Studio Arts from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She is now living and working in Oakland, California and is a MFA candidate at California College of the Arts. Najah draws from her family’s experiences as Syrian citizens; who have been denied visas and the right to leave a war torn country. Her work questions who is permitted to move and settle in new places. By looking at unforeseen trauma and setbacks through the lens of human resilience, she illuminates the futility of deconstruction and reconstruction. This is visualized through physical building, storytelling and fantasy.
