Jared Rosenacker

Tell us about yourself.

I first discovered glass while enrolled at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Not originally an art student, I soon changed majors, and thus changed my life. Glass took me out to Seattle for 3 years, and then all around the world as part of the Corning Museum of Glass team onboard Celebrity Cruise Lines. I’ve been to about 40 countries! Back on land, I’ve settled in Austin, TX to be part of it’s enriched arts community.

What draws you to the material you work with?

Color! I’m constantly in love with it’s vibrancy. Color has always played a strong role in my work over the years. I enjoy layering colors and then taking the glass into the cold shop to expose them.

What themes do you pursue in your work?

Nature + Time. My world travels exposed me to many breathtaking coastlines. Nature is the greatest sculptor. It’s really amazing what something like water and time can do to rock. I feel the same way when I’m in the cold shop and cutting into glass.
