John Pomp Studios – Glassblower – Assistant/Starter (Philadelphia, PA)

John Pomp Studios is a design studio focused on hand crafting unique sculptural pieces of furniture and lighting. We are looking for experienced glassblowers and passionate artist with talented hand skills and an eye for craftsmanship. The glassblower-assistant/starter will be joining a creative crew of talented makers, artists, and craftspeople creating one of a kind custom pieces for exclusive clientele out of our new Philadelphia studio. Job Responsibilities:
• Work closely with and under the direction of the Head of the Glass Department and gaffer to produce a wide array of different glass pieces both blown and hot cast
• Assist glassblowing, coldworking, and kilnworking departments
• Maintain high level of quality through completion of each piece while consistently adhering to the studio’s established processes
• Effectively communicate collaborate with team members to complete tasks in a precise and timely manner
• Maintain organized and clean work area, taking proper care of equipment, tools, and facilities
• Routinely support maintenance of glassblowing equipment as directed by Head of Glass Department and gaffer

Job Qualifications:
• At least 3 years total glass blowing experience, 1 year minimum full time professional production experience required
• Experience with furnace glassblowing required
• Experience with lampworking, coldworking, glazing a plus
• Passionate glassblower with a high personal drive to meet and maintain company standards of craft
• A mature team player who works well in a collaborative environment
• Self-motivated, energetic, and production minded
• Appreciation and attention to fine-detailed work
• Motivated to learn new skills and processes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physical shop environment
• Excellent communication skills
