Tell us about yourself.
Liu Chijun, born in 1980. In 1999, he entered Zibo Jinggong Art Liuli Manufacturing Co., Ltd. to learn the process of blowing glaze with his father. During the period, I learned various crafts of handmade glaze. In 2013, he entered Shanghai Yike Glass Art Studio to study and create glass art. During this period, he cooperated with many international glass artists. In 2015, he entered the Xiye workshop to engage in in-depth development and research in glass blowing and other aspects. In November 2018, he was awarded the title of Shandong Arts and Crafts Master.
What draws you to the material you work with?
Glass enables the accomplishing feeling from creating something out of nothing. I enjoy fully emerging myself in the process of glass, which frees my mind of clusters.
What themes do you pursue in your work, and why have you chosen the processes that you use in your work?
I prefer hot sculpting and incorporate new ideas with techniques.
What is your dream project?
To own a world-renown glass studio in China
Why are you a member of GAS?
To me, GAS is the light house for the international glass (community). I need them (GAS) to guide me, a little boat, to find the right direction in a sea of glass.
