Hot Glass Alley is seeking an experienced Full Time and Part Time Assistant Gaffer to join our collaborative, production-focused hot shop. This role supports wholesale production, commissions, gallery work, and public programs in a busy, professional studio environment.
Our 10,000-sq-ft facility includes a fully equipped hot shop (4 glory holes, 2 furnaces, multiple annealers), cold shop, flameworking, metal and welding areas, sandblasting, fusing studio, warehouse, and public gallery.
Responsibilities:
Production glassblowing; collaboration with gaffers and team members; troubleshooting technical challenges; assisting with training and mentoring; maintaining a clean, safe shop; participating in demos, events, and hands-on public experiences.
Qualifications:
3–5 years professional glassblowing experience; strong production skills preferred; clear communication; comfort working with the public; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; flexible availability including evenings/weekends.
