This two day class is designed to allow students to experiment with a variety of brushes and paints to create mark making on clear float glass. Working with Reusche tracing blacks, bistre browns, and yellow silver stain, to create a variety of images on glass, students will have the opportunity to paint their own glass pieces using either supplied images or creating their own. 

Students will leave the class with a stained glass piece approximately 140mm x 200mm.

No previous experience in glass art is required.

About Your Tutor

Derek Hunt is a glass artist and educator, a Fellow of the British Society of Master Glass Painters, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and an Accredited Stained Glass Conservator with over 38 years experience running his own studio. He designs and makes glass artworks for public spaces, private homes and churches. 

Derek’s work varies in scale, methods of manufacture and subject matter, but all are created with coloured glass and other decorative techniques such as screen printing, hand painting, etching, bonding and traditional stained glass making. He runs adult glass painting courses throughout the year from his studio in Leicestershire, and teaches traditional stained glass painting at Ely Stained Glass Museum, UK.

Derek runs a YouTube channel specializing in all things stained glass, with tutorials, inspirational videos, studio tours, and artist interview podcasts.
