The Studio Technician will help manage day-to-day operation of the studios, equipment maintenance and supervision of the tech apprentices’ training and duties. The Studio Technician team is the primary way PGC maintains daily operation of the facility and equipment for all of our glass studios.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve all equipment associated with the everyday functioning of the Hot Shop, Cold Shop, Casting Studio, Flame Working and Neon Studio, Technology/Fabrication Lab and other areas in the facility
- Monitor shops and studios as directed including overseeing studio clean ups, maintaining tool inventory, and communicating supply levels to Studio Director
- Work in conjunction with the other senior technical staff to manage, train and steward the yearly rotation of tech apprentices
- Assist renters, instructors and students with all studio and teaching needs
- Update and maintain the ongoing scheduled maintenance and task list
- Update inventory lists for Studio Director
- Build and repair equipment with a knowledge of both metalworking and woodworking
- Assist with special events, facility rentals, and exhibition installations
- Acts as emergency response for furnace and building alarms
- Performs other work as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A successful candidate will have welding, woodworking, fabricating and mechanical skills, and excellent trouble-shooting ability. The capacity to communicate effectively with co-workers in a positive manner and excellent customer service is a must.
Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in glass or ceramics or equivalent work experience working in glass. At least two years tech experience.

Salary & Benefits
- Salary range $39,000–$45,000, depending on experience
- 20 paid vacation days, 12 sick days, 9 closure days, and 2 floating holidays per year
- Class credit up to $2,000 annually for complimentary classes at PGC
