The Glass Art Society is looking all over the world to fill vacant seats on the Board of Directors starting January 1, 2027. Do you know someone who possesses a breadth of experience, can provide critical and visionary leadership skills, and is interested in giving back to the international glass community? Please nominate any passionate individuals you feel meet that criteria.
This is an opportunity to help lead the Glass Art Society, an organization dedicated to furthering the development of glass art in all forms. By serving on the GAS Board, you can expect to work hard, get results, and have an enriching experience. Board members devote their time, energy, and ideas to move the organization forward and lead the global glass community to greater success.

Organizational needs, geography, medium, and current position in the glass community are all considered in this process. GAS strongly encourages the nomination (or self-nomination) of people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, and individuals from Central/South America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. ARE YOU A STUDENT INTERESTED IN GAINING BOARD EXPERIENCE AND HAVING A MORE ACTIVE ROLE IN GAS?
The Glass Art Society is looking for a Student Representative from North America to join the Board of Directors for the 2027-2028 fiscal year (starting January 1, 2027). GAS provides the opportunity for two students, one from North America and one from another part of the world, to serve on the Board of Directors and be directly involved in the organization and guide its future. Student Representatives serve a two-year term as the primary champion of student projects and are correspondents between student members and the general membership of GAS. The Glass Art Society encourages all eligible, full-time student members in a degree-seeking glass program to apply.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Current GAS student member (from a North American country)
- Enrolled full-time in a college-level, degree-granting program during the 2027-2028 school years
- Ability to commit to a minimum of two years of service, including monthly video Board meetings Note: Eligible student representatives may run for re-election for a potential maximum term of four years
- The ideal candidate is organized, takes responsibility for assigned duties, and has strong writing skills
- Prior experience as a GAS student liaison (recommended, not required)
- Ability to attend the annual GAS Conference (7-8 days, typically May/June)
Additional travel opportunities may come up, but are not mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Conference involvement (duties scheduled by GAS staff)
- Serve on GAS Committees (Education, Programs – mandatory)
- Student Liaison oversight/communications
- Work with Programs Manager to manage student programming (monthly Student Meet-Up)
- Write articles for GAS Network
