GAS was founded to create a shared community for people who love glass, where people could come together and learn from each other. Artists are the heart of our organization. All of the programs we offer—our conferences, sustainability tools + resources, scholarships + prizes, exhibition opportunities, and our new travel program—are to help artists develop their practice and move forward in their glass journey.
Membership and conference fees only cover a portion of our programming costs, so GAS depends on the generosity of supporters like you to ensure we continue to burn bright and fulfill our mission to connect, inspire, and empower all facets of the global glass community. Every dollar you donate helps us better serve glass artists around the world. We are here because of you.
Sparks fly when glassmakers support glassmakers
GAS provides a critical gathering point, both virtual and physical, for glass enthusiasts around the world to learn new technologies, explore new ways of thinking, rekindle relationships, and foster their careers. This vital support of the global glass community is only possible through the generous support of people like you. Whether you give $5, $50, or $500, every dollar fuels the work we do to connect, inspire, and empower the glass community.
A gift of $50 supports Pay-What-You-Wish GAS student memberships. Starting at $5 a year, these memberships reduce financial barriers to accessing GAS programming and resources. 240 students are currently GAS members through this program.
A gift of $100 supports honoraria to artists who write in GASnews and present at Annual Conferences. Both platforms provide opportunities that not only boost the career of the presenting artist but also enrich the entire community through the open exchange of knowledge. In 2023, over 100 people around the world participated as a conference presenter or GASnews writer.
A gift of $500+ supports artist scholarships to attend the GAS Annual Conference. With great networking, professional, and educational opportunities, GAS conferences can be the catalyst to a glassmaker’s career! With your support, 10 people received scholarships for our Detroit 2023 conference.

GAS needs your help to make proposed initiatives a reality! The four upcoming initiatives will transform our ability to support artists.
Online Member Portal
One of the most critical resources the GAS community has is access to other members. Whether you are looking for artists in your area to collaborate with or you need advice on using a new technique, GAS members are generous with their knowledge and time. We are constantly looking for new opportunities to provide access and create connections outside of our annual conference. The development of an online member portal will create a digital platform where members can build their own profile and promote themselves, as well as connect with other members to share opportunities, look for assistance, and build relationships.
Sustainable Practices Fellowship
Sustainable practices are the way of the future for glass artists, and we want to foster creativity, collaboration, and community around green glass practices! Enter the Sustainable Practices Fellowship, designed to cultivate projects that act as a catalyst for long-term, substantial change and spark collaboration within the global glass community. The selected fellow will receive one year’s membership to GAS, a full-conference pass to the Annual GAS Conference, and a significant cash prize to advance the fellow’s work in sustainable glassmaking.
GAS Connections Youth Program
By partnering with high schools/secondary schools and public programs and access studios worldwide, we will be able to provide young artists with an expanded support system and opportunities to access and become part of the global glass community. The program focuses on providing support, connections, and opportunities by providing fifty young artists with a GAS membership for one year, bringing them to the Annual GAS Conference, providing them with 4-nights accommodation, and connecting them through special student programming during the week.
International Internship Program
GAS has brought together studios and organizations throughout Europe to provide internship opportunities for emerging artists working in glass. This program supports both small studios/organizations and emerging artists by providing funding support and resources to connect the two groups. Artists will benefit from a cross-cultural experience while also supporting their growth as an artist and helping to build their CVs. Studios/organizations gain valuable support that will help their businesses grow and thrive.
