Creating a glass artwork for the Hospices Civils de Beaune
As part of the 5th edition of Art In Situ – Sur la Route des Grands Crus 2027
1. Context
The Hospices Civils de Beaune, in partnership with Art In Situ – Sur la
Route des Grands Crus, are launching a call for projects aimed at glass
artists. The selected artwork will be installed permanently in a former
basin located at the heart of an inner garden at the Hospices and will
become a lasting part of the heritage collection of the Hospices Civils de
Beaune.
2. Installation site
The project will be installed in a circular basin that is no longer filled with
water, surrounded by a medicinal garden and overlooked by the famous
glazed-tile roofs of the Hospices de Beaune. The artwork must engage in a
dialogue with this exceptional heritage while respecting its historic
identity.

4. Artistic intentions
The artwork must be made exclusively of glass. It must express the
founding values of the Hospices Civils de Beaune: Hospitality, Humanity
and Charity. The Hospices de Beaune’s 2027 cultural theme, “Passion of
the Soul”, may inform the artistic approach.
5. Requirements
Artwork made exclusively of glass.
Designed for permanent outdoor installation.
Weather-resistant and safe for the public.
Technical fixings may be used if they remain discreet and fully
integrated.
6. Colour palette
Proposals should draw inspiration from the colours of Burgundy’s
glazed-tile roofs: golden yellow, light brown, dark brown and green.
7. Grant
A total budget of EUR 5,000 including VAT is allocated to the selected
project. This amount includes design, production, materials, transport and
installation.
