CUPS 101 with YASHU REDDY, July 27-31 at Glass Art Kalamazoo. This 5-day course will focus on the fundamentals of Venetian-style goblet making. Starting from working in teams of two or three, we will discuss how to work together to assemble goblets and various footed vessels in a way that utilizes timing and the help of our assistants.
Various footed vessel designs will be covered from simple footed goblets to cups with stems and feet, as well as small footed vessels. The primary goal of this workshop will be to help students make work more efficiently by using the heat, gravity and innate physicality of glass to execute a wide variety of forms and designs. We will cover these techniques in a way that is simple and straightforward, so that it may be practiced and repeated easily.
