The Glass Art Society is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2024 scholarships. These awards enable members of the global glass community to participate in our annual Conference regardless of financial status. “We recognize that the expenses associated with the annual GAS conference, including travel and lodging, can be prohibitive, and with the generous support of our donors, we are able to continue increasing the number of scholarships we provide to offset these costs, allowing more people to access the knowledge, connections, and community that our conferences provide,” said Brandi P. Clark, executive director of GAS.

This year, scholarships were awarded from the following scholarship funds:

Eddie & Angela Bernard Scholarship

The Eddie & Angela Bernard Scholarship is intended for emerging artists and those who require financial assistance to attend the annual GAS Conference. Each scholarship is worth $500 USD and can be used to help with conference admission, travel, and lodging costs.

The 2024 Eddie & Angela Bernard Scholarship recipients are Sebnem Kurtul, Ignacy Lewicki, and Meta Mramor.

Takako Sano International Conference Scholarships

Takako Sano International Student Scholarships are generously supported by Akiko Sano and Natalia Saya Nagata in memory of Ms. Takako Sano. Scholarships are available for students and non-students living outside the conference country.

The 2024 Takako Sano International Conference Scholarship recipients are Joanna Manousis, Patricia Overdam, Nana G. Seydani, Abby Sunde, and Abegael Uffelman.

Becky Winship Flameworking Scholarship

This program is generously funded by David Winship and Lisa Bieber of Glasscraft, Inc. This scholarship is given to eligible students whose work and studies use flameworking techniques.

The 2024 Becky Winship Flameworking Scholarship recipient is Ivan Bestari.

Iconic Yonic Scholarship

Funded by the glass collective Iconic Yonic’s sale of work from their Detroit 2023 presentation, this scholarship is intended for a female-identifying glass artist to attend the annual GAS Conference.

The 2024 Iconic Yonic Scholarship recipients are Erin Dickson, Priscilla Kar Yee Lo, and Eriko Kobayashi.

Thank you again to our generous donors for making our scholarships possible–these awards enable our community members to access the career-changing experiences and opportunities our conferences can provide.
