Part-time Glass Workshop Instructor | Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI)

The Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI) seeks passionate and skilled glass artists to join our San Jose, California team! As a non-profit, public-access glass studio, we’re on a mission to share the art of glassmaking with our community. Nestled in the heart of History Park, our 6,000 sq ft studio features state-of-the-art facilities, including a hot shop, a flameworking studio, a fusing studio, a neon studio, and a cold shop. We offer a diverse range of classes, from 2-hour experiences for beginners to in-depth courses for students of all levels. We are currently looking for additions to the team who can teach the 2-hour glass experience classes that we offer to the public on weekends. This role will begin as part-time work. Applicants with weekend availability are preferred. 

The ideal BAGI staff instructor we’re looking for possesses the following:

  • Experience and self-sufficiency working in the hotshop 
  • A passion for glass arts
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a great attitude to learn
  • Availability on at least 4 weekend days per month

As a BAGI instructor, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Engage in one-on-one interactions with students
  • Educate and inspire through hands-on experiences
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of our studios

We offer competitive compensation starting at $35 per hour, based on experience, and flexible scheduling options, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. As a bonus, staff members enjoy a 20% discount on studio rentals to support their artistic endeavors.
