Melissa Misoda

Tell us about yourself.

I run my own studio in West Seattle, and teach the glassblowing program at Sammamish High School in Bellevue, WA. I received my BFA from Tyler School of Art and my MFA from Alfred University.

What draws you to the material you work with?

The fact that you start with a molten 2100° puddle and turn it into a tangible object is what first drew me to working with glass. I just love the quick pace, the heat, & the teamwork involved. Glass has a beauty that is hard to replicate with any other material. It’s simply magical!

What is your dream project?

I really want to get more involved with public art. I think art is so healing so to be able to add more art in public spaces would be such an honor!
